The territory of the municipality of San Canzian d’Isonzo includes the villages of Begliano, Pieris, Isola Morosini and Terranova and lies on the final stretch of the River Isonzo. A quiet area now, proud of its natural landscape, crafts and hospitality, it has a surprisingly colourful history.
The project develops the app created in 2019, the year marking the 1200th anniversary of the document signed by Emperor Ludovic the Pius (819) in which the vicus Sanctorum Cantianorum where the saints Cantius, Cantianus and Cantianilla were killed and buried in AD 304 is first mentioned.
>A journey through time and space that takes in the wealth of finds held in San Canzian’s Antiquarium, helping us to understand the archaeological site’s close ties to the nearby Aquileia, the capital of the region of the Roman Empire known as X Regio Venetia et Istria.
Using the latest technology, visitors can enjoy a virtual tour to get to know and use the different attractions of the area, ranging from points of historical and archaeological interest to landscapes and natural features and agritourism locations.
